The AP World History exam is scored on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest possible score. Each section contributes to your final score:

We need to be careful when looking at averages. To better understand your position, look at the score distribution (figure above). In 2023, roughly 65% of the students scored 3+ on AP World History.

I hated history in high school, especially questions which went like: "List 5 out of 14 clauses in the Treaty of Versailles". 🙄 Why should I remember the details of some complex agreement signed a 100 years ago? 🤷
The reason history seems difficult is that it is taught wrong. Look at movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, Spotlight, 300 etc. It's not hard to remember dialogues or details from the movie, is it?
Only 1 in 3 students got a score of 4+ on AP World History last year, so it is a very realistic goal. There is TONS of advice on the internet, but let's cut through the non-sense, you only need 2 things:
🏆 Tip: There is no penalty for guessing on the MCQ section, so it's always worth making an educated guess if you're unsure of the answer.
Important note: AP score won't make or break your college applications, so don't stress out too much. If you have qualified, focus on improving more impactful parts of your application.
